X-Men Actor Liev Schreiber on Why He’s Fine With Not Returning as Sabretooth in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’
Fans may be disappointed that Liev Schreiber isn’t in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’, but the actor is totally fine with it. In a recent talk with Maggie Lovitt from Collider, Liev Schreiber talked about how fans are still excited about his role as Sabretooth and the rumors about him possibly coming back in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine.’
The interview occurred while Schreiber promoted his new movie, Across the River and Into the Trees, and he gave some interesting insight into his thoughts on the character. Schreiber shared that he’s both surprised and thankful for the fan campaigns pushing for his return as Sabretooth. Here’s the interview:
When you’re making a television show, or you’re making a film, I’m not in there with the audience, I don’t know that anybody sees it. Of course, if you follow that sort of thing, you can see the numbers, that millions of people have seen it, but I generally don’t follow.
I was so surprised that we had that many fans, and I was so surprised that people were campaigning for me to be in the new ‘Deadpool’ movie.
However, Schreiber was open about how tough it was physically to play Sabretooth again, a character known for being strong and powerful.
To be honest, it’s a lot of work getting your body up to that point. I know I watched Hugh [Jackman] get himself ready again, and I thought, ‘I’m okay to sit by the sidelines.
He admitted with a smile, acknowledging that the effort required to get back into superhero shape was maybe something we weren’t quite keen on this time around.
