Simu Liu Gives an Update on ‘Shang-Chi’ Sequel: Something Is Cooking

When ‘Shang-Chi’ premiered in 2021, it marked the first time an Asian superhero was the lead in an MCU movie. With 7.4 on IMDb and 91%/98% (Critics/Audience), the movie was a huge success for Marvel Studios (although it didn’t earn that much—but that’s because of COVID).

Anyway, with the reception ‘Shang-Chi’ received, it was clear the sequel was coming. But in the last few years, we didn’t get many updates on the sequel—all we knew was that it was in the works.

Currently, Simu Liu is promoting his new movie ‘Jackpot!.’ During the press tour, ‘Shang-Chi’ star shared some new updates on the much-anticipated sequel:

“A lot of it is above my pay grade but it’s definitely happening. So just very excited to kind of work on it and its going to be amazing. I really can’t say anything beyond that.”

As with previous “updates,” all we got was crumbs. Still, we know that something is cooking, and if I were to bet, we would get the release date for the ‘Shang-Chi’ sequel in the upcoming months. My best guess is that it will be released in 2026!
