‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Keeps Shattering Box Office Records as Movie Surges Past $1 Billion Worldwide
Before the movie was released, early projections for ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ were good—but not this good. Three weeks in, Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman keep bringing audiences to the cinema.
A lot of factors helped ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’s massive success: good marketing, a lot of buzz online, and cameos talks, but in the end, the movie simply delivered. It had action, humor, plot, and X-Men – the future of MCU finally looks bright again!
This weekend, ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ broke the $1 billion mark at the global box office, becoming the second R-rated movie in history, after ‘Joker’, which earned $1.074 billion, to do so. There’s nothing stopping MCU’s hit to take the throne in the next few days.
With Sunday accounted for, the international box office of ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ is $535.2M, and the domestic box office is $494.3M, for a total of $1,029.5M.
Moreover, ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ is the first MCU movie to break that magical $1 billion worldwide mark after ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ which was a massive hit (it earned $1.916 billion).
Without saying, the third installment in the Deadpool franchise surpassed both ‘Deadpool’ ($728.6 million worldwide) and ‘Deadpool 2’ ($785.8 million worldwide) in terms of earnings.
This is also Disney’s (and this year’s) second billion-dollar movie this year after ‘Inside Out 2’, which is currently $1.593 million worldwide and is showing no signs of stopping.
‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ is exactly what the MCU needed after the last few years, and following its great audience reception, opening weekend for ‘Captain America: Brave New World’ will probably be big.
