D23 Gives MCU Fans Plenty of Reason To Be Excited for ‘Marvel Zombies’
After SDCC finished big with Robert Downey Jr.’s return to the MCU as Dr. Doom, it was time for more Marvel news at D23 – and it delivered! We got new information about ‘Thunderbolts*,’ ‘Captain America: Brave New World,’ ‘Ironheart,’ ‘Agatha All Along,’ ‘What If…?’ Season 3, ‘X-Men 97’ Season 2, ‘Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man,’ and ‘Eyes of Wakanda.’
But one of the projects that stood out was ‘Marvel Zombies.’ Following the well-received story we saw in ‘What If…?’ Season 1 (remember zombie Wanda?), we finally got some new info about the upcoming Marvel animated project.
Unfortunately, ‘Marvel Zombies’ doesn’t have a release date yet, but it was described as a “hardcore” TV-MA four-episode event. Also, a brief footage was shown to the lucky D23 audience.
Wenwu, Shang-Chi, and Katy were shown fighting against zombies in that footage. Shang-Chi gets bitten by a zombie, so he uses the Ten Rings to stop the infection. Time skips to five years later, where Shang-Chi and Katy use the Ten Rings in a ‘Mad Max’ style fight against zombies.
With ‘X-Men 97,’ ‘What If…?,’ ‘Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man,’ Eyes of Wakanda,’ and ‘Marvel Zombies,’ it seems that Marvel is going all in with its animated projects, and based on what we saw from ‘X-Men 97’ and ‘What If…?,’ fans have plenty of reasons to be excited for!
