RUMOR: Marvel Looking to Unite Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man with Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine in the MCU
Phases 4 and 5 of MCU marked the return of fan-favorite Marvel live-action characters. Patrick Stewart as Professor X in ‘Doctor Strange ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,’ Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield as Spider-Men in ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home,’ and most recently, Hugh Jackman as Wolverine in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine.’
Those nostalgia moments helped MCU bring audiences back to the cinemas, and no wonder Marvel Studios is trying to do it again—this time with Tobey’s Spider-Man and Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine simultaneously.
Specifically, during a September Discord AMA, industry insider Alex Perez from Cosmic Circus discussed the chances of Maguire and Jackman returning and maybe even working together.
Many fans think ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ will bring together almost every Marvel and non-MCU character, and Perez discussed that idea too:
Tobey Maguire’s Peter Parker with Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine is probably going to be every Marvel fan’s fantasy going into Secret Wars and I know that they’re doing everything in their power to make this interaction and more legacy character interactions a reality, but it has to be something meaningful like it was when we saw the Resistance in Deadpool and Wolverine, not just some throwaway sequence that’s meant to be a one and done.
I want to clarify that all of these interactions are currently just ideas they’re throwing around for these films. Until we get closer to the releases, it’s not something that can easily be confirmed to be happening this far out in advance.
