Vision Series Update: Todd Stashwick Joins the Cast. It’s Unclear Whether Ultron Will Be in a Human or Robot Form
Todd Stashwick, who had an important part in season three of Star Trek: Picard, has teamed up with Paul Bettany and James Spader for Marvel Studios’ new Vision series, which follows the Emmy-winning WandaVision.
Stashwick is working again with Terry Matalas, the well-known showrunner of Picard, who is leading the new series, sometimes called Vision Quest, though that isn’t the official name.
Bettany is returning as Vision, the android who fell in love with Scarlet Witch and was destroyed by Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War. In WandaVision, he came back through magic and grief, as well as in the form of a rebuilt, ghostly white android.
Spader is also coming back as Ultron, a sentient being created by Tony Stark to be a defense program, but who instead turned against humanity, as shown in Avengers: Age of Ultron. Ultron played a role in creating Vision, his “son,” in a way.
The Hollywood Reporter also reports that it’s unclear whether Ultron will appear as a robot or in human form.
Ultron’s “human” form – Hank Pym Ultron
We don’t know what exactly will Ultron’s “human” form look in the series, but there’s a pretty good chance it will adapt Avengers: Rage of Ultron comics storyline.
In the comic books, Hank Pym, not Iron Man, created Ultron. Pym had questionable morals and several psychological problems, which showed in the personality of his creation. Ultron even developed “father issues,” seeking Pym’s approval.
Eventually, Ultron went to the extreme by merging with Pym, just as he did with Vision. This gave him Pym’s brilliant mind, making him even more dangerous. The result was disastrous, as this version of Ultron could pretend to be Pym and use his Ant-Man powers to trick and nearly defeat the Avengers.
